When it comes to wedding accessories, there’s nothing like a veil to make you feel like a bride. Slip on that special headpiece made just for you and something magical happens. Directions are for a V-shaped form, but other bases can be used. And instead of purchasing a veil as suggested, tulle can used to make a veil any desired length and number of tiers.

Make flowers and leaves

Make one flat flower as follows. Cut a 1-1/2″ x 6″ (3.5cm x 15cm) satin strip. Fold in half lengthwise; run a row of basting stitches along raw edge, leaving long thread ends. Remove needle; pull threads to gather edge into a circle, ends overlapping; knot threads securely. Sew flower appliqué in center.

Make one ranunculus as follows. Cut a 2″ x 8″ (5cm x 20cm) piece of satin. Fold in half lengthwise; run a row of basting stitches along raw edge. Pull thread to gather, wrapping strip into spiral; tack to secure.

Make three leaves as follows. Cut a 2″ x 1-1/4″ (5cm x 3cm) piece of satin. Fold in half lengthwise. Fold both ends down diagonally toward center. Next, fold corners to center. Run a row of gathering stitches along bottom edge. Gather stitches; knot thread ends.
